Artist Statement
I have been learning the craft of oil painting for the last 10 years, studying techniques and practices of the Masters in as much detail as possible before applying it to my own style of art. I usuallly have at least half a dozen pieces on the go and return to them over and over, getting to know them, and adding new layers of interest into the work as it begins to have a voice. Each new Master study adds a wealth of new ideas and approaches that I can't wait to try out.
I am particularly interested in the use of layering and textures to convey concept of time and motion which, depending on its presence or absence, can convey atmospheric serenity, or Mother Nature's power.
