Artist Statement
Mixed media inspired by Japanese Boro cloths; Indian/Nepalese textiles; and folk art including Chilean Arperillas. Vintage fabrics are used to produce new pieces by patching, piecing and layering with added embroidery stitches. “Collecting” plays a big part of my practice: multicultural and vintage textiles; memorabilia; and vintage artefacts. I love to share my finds with other like minded people who may also glean enjoyment and inspiration from them. I enjoy natural and eco dyeing and often incorporate these techniques into my work. More recently I have been using items derived from nature to incorporate into my work.
