Artist Statement
Cath Dunn is a painter/printmaker based in Sheffield (& occasionally Edinburgh). She is inspired by natural forms and a sense of place – rocks, trees, the lie of the land. Her primary interest lies in pattern and abstraction to recreate the movement and rhythm in a specific terrain. Colour, either vivid or subtle, influenced by her life in Africa, is central to Cath’s work. Cath’s work also often reflects the edges of things, literally as in the gritstone edges of the Peak District or more obliquely as in the edges of life – elements that might otherwise be overlooked.
Cath works in a variety of media and her current series uses mixed media – watercolour, ink, oil, printmaking techniques and collage. She has won several awards and has a studio in Sheffield where visitors are welcome. She exhibits regularly in the north of England and Scotland.
