Artist Statement
My work tends to focus on groups of people at play across a range of contexts. I try to capture some of the energy and humour within those situations to hopefully connect to the experience of others. Until recently I was living in Devon and my work was often inspired by people swimming together and making use of the beaches.
Having moved back to Derby the focus of my work is changing to reflect the more urban environment I now live in, as well as the beautiful countryside within easy reach. I have a long-term attraction to creating work based on circuses and fairgrounds with these influences regularly making an appearance in my pictures.
I have fun with my art work and often mix media to create unexpected elements. I paint with acrylics on board, use a range of printmaking techniques particularly collograph and include ceramics in some of my pictures.
