Artist Statement
Designer maker based in Chesterfield on the edge of the Derbyshire Peak district producing functional and decorative art pieces
A fascination with the possibilities of free machine embroidery developed into dragonfly and butterfly brooches worked into soluble fabric. A chance conversation about pressed flowers started a journey resulted in my collaged pictures. These can include paint, fabrics, dried grasses, leaves and petals together with machine embroidery.
An interest in natural dyes and botanical (eco) printing has evolved into range of sketchbooks and journals using my botanical prints on the covers. These are an addition to my fabric covered journals which are hand stitched in fabrics printed from my original artwork.
