Artist Statement
Vikki Singleton Sculpture was born after rediscovering my schoolgirl interest in clay in 2016. I joined a local ceramics class where my passion for animal conservation and the natural world form the basis for my work. Taking reference from animals in both conservation projects and their natural habitat, allows me to produce realistic sculptures of my favourite wildlife.
Each sculpture is individually handmade and kiln fired, they are then glazed with a variety of coloured slips, and oxide is applied to bring out the natural texture of the clay.
Some sculptures are mounted on lightly oiled, up-cycled scaffold board, bringing out the weathered beauty of the wood. The perfect combination of rustic and industrial.
